Two years ago my daughters took me on a trip to Italy for my birthday to visit a friend and our family. We visited Rome and Florence and then drove the six to seven hours to our family village in Santa Caterina Albanese, Calabria.
My daughter, Alli, had planned the entire trip. We visited family for a few days and then returned to Rome with my cousins for one night before our flight.
Besides enjoying Italy and our family, Alli was very focused on buying a particular purse. Longchamp Le Pliage while we were in Europe. Site seeing and family visit all went wonderfully; finding a Longchamp store did not. We searched Rome and Florence and had no luck finding the opportunity to buy one of these bags. Time had run out and we were checking in at Alitalia for our return to Boston. I cannot possibly express what it feels like to check in at an airline counter in another country and hear the words, "You are not on this flight. Your flight was yesterday. I'm sorry."
We scrambled to the main Alitalia agency desk and found the line excruciatingly long. My daughter Alli's mind went to tracking all the emails from Alitalia and my mind went to, "Well, how much could it possibly cost for three people to just hop on a plane to Boston right now? A thousand dollars each?"
Alli discovered that our flight had been changed randomly sometime right before or during our trip. She never looked during our trip to see what Alitalia was emailing her.
We finally reached the front of the line and the booking agent was wonderful. She arranged for us to take a plane from Rome to Paris, and then Paris back home to the U.S. We did not pay any money for the solution and we would be arriving in Boston just a half an hour later than our previous flight.
This was certainly one of those weird incidents in which someone says that there must be a reason we were bumped off the Rome flight. I went to the thinking place of , "Oh wow...what if the plane crashes? Our departure was changed so we would stay safe and not be on that Alitalia airplane. "
We were on a delightful flight to Paris. The airport was so beautiful, there was a wonderful sandwich shop, and we were able to help a single Mom with her two little children. We also took a stroll around the airport. It was open, airy, peaceful, and wait...what's this? What is that little airport store right there? Longwhat?
Yes, there was a Longchamp mini store in the Paris airport! Alli was able to get the color she wanted which was difficult to find in the U.S.A. and the bag was an estimated $70 less expensive!
It was then that I realized that I had been assuming that if plans changed there was something bad being avoided. Instead of that being True, it seems quite possibly that when something happens which might seem to thwart our dreams or goals, it is actually giving us what it is that we have asked for. Alli wanted her purse...so, the Universe and all of us as co-creators, found a way to get her to a Longchamp bag, by an unplanned trip to the store in the Paris airport!!
Oh wisest part of ourselves, please remember that matter follows energy. Allis' energy just happened to be on a Longchamp bag and so it was made so. Consider that all changes in plans are not necessarily to help you avoid something bad happening to you. Changes in plans could absolutely be a part of bringing you in better connection and direction to receive exactly what you wanted. Hang in there! Even if it looks like a bad moment in a day, it just maybe the exact oomph you need to get you what want!
